One More Chair

Marta stands beside a dinner table set for five people but with only four chairs.

Marta wants to have dinner with four friends. She has a big table, but only four chairs. Five people need five chairs.

She goes to the flat upstairs. A man opens the door.

"Hello. Can I use one of your chairs tonight?" she asks.

"Yes, of course."

His name is Paul. He brings a chair to Marta's flat. There is a nice smell from the kitchen.

"Are you having dinner alone tonight?" Marta asks him.

"Yes," he says.

"Would you like to eat with us?"

Paul smiles. "Thank you. I can bring some bread."

Then they look at the table. Paul laughs. "I need to get one more chair!"
